What got done.

Mayor of Pune · 2002–2005

  • Introduced a free insurance policy for Below Poverty Line families through PMC.
  • Reduced tax and octroi for the IT sector to help seed Pune’s now-thriving IT economy.
  • Represented PMC at urban management programmes in Germany, Mauritius, Australia, and the USA.

MLA · Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha

  • Spearheaded calls to deploy the Nirbhaya Fund for CCTV systems, forensic labs, and women’s safety in public transport.
  • Walked out with women MLAs demanding action on farmers’ issues and a ban on dance bars.
  • Organised the Congress Dindi at Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur.

Women's Welfare & SHGs

  • Formed 2,000 SHGs across Maharashtra and trained 18,000–20,000 members free of cost.
  • Launched the Punavadi Jatra annual fair and took SHGs to Mauritius for an international platform.
  • Started a Working Women’s Hostel and the Stree Shakti Puraskar.

Congress Organisational Work

  • Vice President of the All India Mahila Congress.
  • Observer for the Mahila Congress in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.
  • Active participant in the Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi.

Education & Skilling

  • Chairperson of Vishwakarma Saivalley English Medium School, Yavat — providing affordable education to rural Pune.
  • Provided free vocational training in computers (MKCL), beauty, fashion, and tailoring in collaboration with PMC.
