Mayor of Pune · 2002–2005
- Introduced a free insurance policy for Below Poverty Line families through PMC.
- Reduced tax and octroi for the IT sector to help seed Pune’s now-thriving IT economy.
- Represented PMC at urban management programmes in Germany, Mauritius, Australia, and the USA.
MLA · Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha
- Spearheaded calls to deploy the Nirbhaya Fund for CCTV systems, forensic labs, and women’s safety in public transport.
- Walked out with women MLAs demanding action on farmers’ issues and a ban on dance bars.
- Organised the Congress Dindi at Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur.
Women's Welfare & SHGs
- Formed 2,000 SHGs across Maharashtra and trained 18,000–20,000 members free of cost.
- Launched the Punavadi Jatra annual fair and took SHGs to Mauritius for an international platform.
- Started a Working Women’s Hostel and the Stree Shakti Puraskar.
